Just reading the problems here leads me to believe the BlackX has severe manufacturing or hardware design problems. I would never buy another one of this version and probably go with someone who has a better representation. There name is sort of a copy of Thermallake... Well known in the industry. Copying a similar name is purely strategic and they can get away with it. I have a defective unit after owning it for exactly one year almost to the day. I am curious what kind of hoops I will have to jump through. I am hoping for good customer service <crossing my fingers> since I emailed them. We will see.

Technically USB 3.0 is backwards compatible. So if they met all of there specs it should be as well. The question is did they or not? Could be your unit is DOA. You should replace it under warranty.

I have always used mine on Windows 10 with zero problems until the LEDS and everything just stopped working. It is not a driver issue in my case at least. I doubt it is a driver issue for Beginner also. These are now pretty generic drivers that are used and supported by many MS OS's
