New gaming rig with Water 3.0 Extreme S

Hello all

I thought I would post this here for everyone.  Firstly I did have a few issues.

First is that the Water 3.0 writing does not light up.  I am not sure if it is supposed to as the other corsair brands do.  If not that is perfectly fine, I just want to make sure I have it set up.

Secondly, the Thermaltake level 10 gt snow is a great case.  I have one issue with it as of right now.  I press the led color changing button to change the colors of the front and side fans.  Sometimes the fans change colors, some, one fan changes and the other stays the same.  It is kinda a pain but I can get over it.  My only other gripe is that I do not like that when I open the side of it and close the side again it resets the color shift fan color.

Lets see, the Water 3.0 is running currently  at 41C with a minor overclock at 4.0 GHZ.  The only problem I have with the unit is that the fan cors are a bit too short to do any well cable management.  Lastly, the Thermaltake software will not run.  When I try and run it, it says something like "Can not find device" or something like that., The unit is working though.  Overall, Thermaltake you take king in my book.  The case is great, the watercooler is great.  Thank you for providing such excellent parts for my gaming rig.

What I will do not is attach some pics of my rig.  I am also starting up my own yutube channel.  I will post a link to that if I am allowed to.  If not please delete the link.  Here is my PC specs.

Anyway it has pics on there but am posting them here.  If ANYONE has any idea on where to plug my water 3.0 extreme into my motherboard so the software can work, let me know.  I did try my best with cable managment.

Hello,

Nice setup you got going on there.. Thanks for the pics and the feedback!

For the cables, yes they are standard length on the fans included with the W3Es, look for some extensions to help online or use a molex adapter and run them off the PSU.

The Water 3.0 Extreme S does not support any software. The older version "Water 3.0 Extreme" supports software, but had some compatibility issues, due to this, we changed over to the Extreme "S" version with the only difference being the software.

As for the lighting issues you mention on the chassis, give us a call so we can talk with you about it in detail. The PCB controller could be experiencing an issue and a replacement may be required. (We can send you a replacement Part instead of swapping the entire case if needed)

Contact info in my Sig :D

very interesting - this might help explain why my fans have been going haywire / misbehaving in general for no apparent reason/s lately

(although they were fine for around a year)

..after first seeing this post, i tried uninstalling the fan control software, only for the issue to remain. so i then reinstalled it, and not only was this also not a remedy, now two instances of the open hardware monitor load on boot, and neither of them work properly !?!

i'm also quite surprised that you have seemingly decided to completely abandon your fan control software, as that gives me the impression that the problem/s must be pretty bad hey

- where does this leave all of the 3.0 extreme customers with units - functional or otherwise - still under warranty?

Hello,

Check your start up and make sure to remove the software completely.

This was not based on an issue with the software directly, but compatibility concerns with pass through from the other devices involved.

Warranty should not be any concern, only the 3.0 Extreme had the software option as well, this does not effect the warranty on the product.

  • 3 weeks later...

apologies, as i didn't express myself very clearly there

what i meant was, given that you have abandoned your FCS, and have recommended that i uninstall it, surely that would entitle me to not only a full refund should the problem persist - or if uninstalling the FCS does resolve the issue, a partial refund for no longer being able to utilise one of the features of the water 3.0 extreme still being promoted on your site as a selling point !

- while the fact the water 3.0 extreme comes with FCS was only the third factor (behind performance and quiet operation, of course) influencing my decision in choosing which AIO cpu watercooler to buy, the FCS was still the reason i selected it over a competitor's model of comparable quality

it seems that you have admitted a terminal fault with a feature of this product and offered no real recompense or solution/s to existing customers who own one. this is unacceptable to me, and probably the australian competition and consumer commission too

..to start from the beginning: sometime late in january the cpu fans started behaving erratically. i'd changed and installed nothing prior to this, and the only windows system updates earlier in the month appear completely unrelated to the issue

i can't remember whether the fans suddenly ramping up to a high speed for no apparent reason was the first dysfunctional behaviour to manifest, or whether it was the erratic activity you can see in the picture below, but either way something is clearly not right !

since then i have unplugged and replugged all the relevant connections, uninstalled, reinstalled, and finally sucessfully uninstalled the FCS*, and even tried using different fans, all to no avail   :(

* following on from my first post: when i was successful in completely uninstalling the FCS, the fans would still randomly appear possessed. so i used ccleaner to remove all FCS related stuff still in my registry, and manually deleted the open hardware monitor exe file from the list of startup items - despite my system configuration claiming it had been disabled for around a year already - as i wanted to be sure

this appeared to have finally fixed the frustrating fan fiasco, as the next time i started my PC the fans behaved from boot all day until bedtime

..then the next time i turned on my PC the fans roared to near full power before windows had even welcomed me, and stayed at that speed, falling straight back into the bad habit they'd recently developed for whatever reason/s   :(

so, in order to both preserve my sanity, and actually be able to use my computer in peace, i have removed the unit from my case and replaced it with the stock intel cpu fan

subsequently, i would like to return the faulty unit for a full refund ASAP, so that i can afford to replace the inadequate and annoyingly high pitched stock intel fan with an AIO cooling system not made by thermaltake
