wcrm
Hi all, I'm new here, I recently bought a power supply. Thermaltake TR2 430 watt ATX power supply. I see there is multiple outputs at different voltages. All I need this power supply to do is power an old pc 5.25 floppy drive, I was using the 4 pin output. There is no voltage coming off this connector. Do you have plug in the 20 pin connector to a computer to make the other outputs work? Is there any way to make this work, or do I have to buy a different power supply? If I have to buy a different one which model can I use to power a 4 pin floppy drive only? Thanks for any help. ThermalMike
wcrm, Welcome to the Tt Community! If you want to use an axillary PSU, you need to jumper the 24-pin to turn the PSU on to get output. Thermaltake has a Dual 24-pin adapter: http://www.amazon.com/THERMALTAKE-AC-005-CNONAN-P1-24pin-Adapter-Cable/dp/B00Q2SWKAW There are other methods to do this, just be safe! CRM
Thanks for the reply, I new there had to be a way to do this, but I wasn't sure how. I'm going to order the adapter, it saves buying a new power supply. Thanks again.
ThermalMike
No worries! Also from what I see, just about every PSU on the market is this way. It is a standard for most to require connection of the 24-pin in order to function.
