Tr2 600w possible issues with my build.

I recently upgrade my GPU from a 670 AMP! to an EVGA 970 SC, and while researching I ran into some posts saying that the the TR2 600W was not a trustworthy PSU to have in a gaming build. I've had the PSU for just over 2 years and the only problem I have from it is occasional whining (Nothing too loud). I've read that the PSU has been known to go out and damage other components in the PC. Is this model of PSU a time bomb, or is it perfectly safe?

The rest of my build:

Intel i7 2600@ 3.4GHz

8gb stock DDR3 RAM @1600MHz

1.5TB HDD(Unkown company)

EVGA GTX 970 SC

4 fans total including CPU fan

I'm not sure if this build has any cause for concern with this PSU or not, but any feedback would be greatly appreciated, because reading those posts has me rather paranoid.

Judging from reviews, both cards require about the same power under load (the 970 actually needs a few Watt less even). The VGA upgrade is not a reason to upgrade your PSU, if everything was running fine before.

Regarding your other concerns: Any power supply has the chance to take some components with it if it is malfunctioning. However, that is not the rule and the TR2 is not known for having more RMA cases than other power supplies. The forum posts you found were probably individual cases that you can find for pretty much any power supply on the market. Did you know that the TR2 has over current protection, over voltage protection, under voltage protection, over power protection and short circuit protection? I can not promise you with a 100% certainty that those protection circuits will always kick in to protect your hardware but that is their purpose and it works most of the time.

Thanks for your quick reply! That makes me feel a lot better. I suppose an upgrade wont be required after all.
