Bodhi seeds have sacred meaning throughout Buddhism.

Recommended Posts

Many customers have asked for a traditional Tibetan mala design with smaller bodhi seed beads, and these are finally available! Bodhi seed beads can be used for counting all types of mantras, as well as other prayers, prostrations, circumambulations, and so forth. This mala features fine quality 14mm bodhi beads that have been cut on each end, making them flat in the traditional manner. Simply strung on a red cord and finished with a guru bead.

Bodhi seeds have sacred meaning throughout Buddhism. It was while meditating under a bodhi tree that Prince Siddhartha attained enlightenment and became the Buddha. The dark-speckled seeds thus have special meaning for all seekers of divine wisdom. "Bodhi" in Sanskrit means enlightenment; as an "enlightened" seed, many practitioners use these malas for their essence and inherent teachings within each seed.
