I am having a same issue, I recently purchased the THERMALTAKE RIING 14CM RGB 3 FANS PACK FAN for my new build but it is not working as per expectations. After installing all the drivers and the software from the website, the software does not detect the 3 fans. I've tried downloading different versions of the software. The older version will have 3 fans displaying at 0 RPMs and i'm not able to control the fans still.

    Software download links as below;

And Here are the things that i have tried.
    • I've connected the fans into different headers from the controller.
    • I've connected the fan controller into all of the 9 pin USB2 on my motherboard.
    • I've connected different Molex cables into the fan controller.
    • I've used different points of my power supply.
    • I've used both of the USB ports from the controller cables.
    • I've tried all the controller number settings i could from the back of the controller.
    • I've tried to get a new controller
And still i cannot get the software to detect the fans. I think i am not the only one with this issue I need advice on this. Please help !!
The main star of this build were the fans
    My CPU build as such
    • Msi x370 Gaming pro carbon
    • Ryzen 7 1700x
    • G750M 750 Watt Semi-Modular 80 PLUS
    • Asus GTX1080 8g 11gbs
*I think these are the parts I need to list for the "debugging".
**All parts purchased on July 2017.
***Thermaltake fans ordered online on 2nd August 2017.
****Thermaltake fans arrived on 4th August 2017.

    Hi,

Yes it is well known that it is an issue with Ryzen. Call customer support to discuss your options. I believe there is a new controller that is needed. Dont bother troubleshooting further, it will not fix the issue unfortunately. Hopefully you can sort it out and have your rig up and running asap!

Hello, i had this problem until just now!, i'm using the premium v1.0.7 on a R7 1700 and it also didn't start, tried connecting to an external USB3.1 (case port connected via internal header) and didn't work, tried one of the USB2 ports on the back and no dice, that's when i tried one of the USB 3.1 also on the back of the motherboard and it works!, for some reason it throws a controller no.1 warning screen but it's working perfectly so far.

According to the motherboard manual the usb ports where it didn't work are coming from the X370 chipset and the one that is working from comes from the CPU itself, this is on an msi x370 gaming pro carbon so try connecting on a port that doesn't come from the chipset and see if it works.

Glad you got it working! Do you have the plus version of the fans or the previous premium version?

They got back to me pretty fast. This is what they say:

I don't think i'm going to wait but that is their response for those experiencing Ryzen Issues.

Also using an external usb cable did not fix the issue for me as it was one of the things I initially did.

Good to hear buddy! Would've been better of them to notify the public a lot sooner though.. I would've waited but needed to control fan RPM as I overclock a lot and need the good airflow.

Thanks again. I tried to phone them this morning and they advised me to send an email lol. We'll see if they respond.

No problem. Same process for me, should go by smoothly from here. :)

I got it working on my ryzen 1600 and gigabyte ab350m. I had to use a micro USB cable from my phone to hook up the controller to a spare usb slot in my i/o. The internal usb on mobo seems to not work with the controller :/ Before I did this, the software wouldnt even start. It would appear in my tray but be unresponsive and no window would open. Now it works fine, i just have a random usb cable coming out of the case ####. Im on v2.1.5 of the software (non-plus riing) but maybe this fix would work for the plus models and the plus software. Goodluck!

Unfortunately I saw this fix and tried it. I believe the non plus models had an issue where the USB cable housing was blocking it from fully entering the port. The plus models issue is definitely a software conflict with Ryzen. Would advise anybody to stop wasting their time with hardware troubleshooting if running the plus model. Just need to play the waiting game unfortunately. :/

I have a Ryzen system and the Riing software is definitely not compatible. I've been told by my supplier here in Australia that a fix is being worked on by TT, however judging by an earlier post its been at least 2 months that a fix has been in the works and has yet to come to fruition.

I'm having difficulty getting a refund because technically there's nothing at fault with the product... Please fix this software or instruct your re-sellers to give us Ryzen users a refund/credit. I've been waiting 2 months now to finish my system off :/

Hi Plasma, you need to call TT directly. They were more than happy to offer me a refund in AUS so you shouldn't have a problem.

I am having the same issue. I have been in contact with Thermaltake Support and they keep sending me to Asus Support saying there is an issue with the USB connection. Asus has repeatedly told me that the problem is not on their end. I am getting sick of the back and forth and wish I never bought the fans in the first place. I have an Asus ROG Crosshair VI motherboard with a Ryzen 7 1800x CPU. I have submitted two RMA requests for the controllers hoping that might fix the problem. I am not confident. Does anyone have any further suggestions?

If I disconnect the USB connections on the controllers then the software will open. If I plug them in it freezes and crashes. Any ideas?

I gave up and RMA'd the whole set. Have the same setup as you but a 1700 with the same symptoms.

i have the exact same problem but on a intel system...

Baked, a new software update has been released and it may help with the issue. The TT rep told me that my issue is Ryzen based so there's no hope for me yet. Unfortunately, I gave up. Have just submitted an RMA request for a full refund.
Have also made the switch to 6 NZXT Aer RGBs and they are functioning as expected!

I have had the same issues as others where the Riing Plus software fails to detect or control the the new fans.  However, the weird thing is that I happen to load (by mistake I have to admit) the Premium RGB software during my testing and it finds and controls the fans fine.  You don't get any of the cool functions of the Plus fans like individual led control, etc but you can do anything the RGB's do.  I tried reinstalling the Plus after I got the other to work but the Plus software still shows 0 rpm and obviously doesn't detect the fans.

Short version - for me it's not a hardware issue since the wrong software can control the fans.

Hi Chumley! I'm glad you had luck getting some sort of control over your fans! Unfortunately I'm still in the same boat where I have no control. Even using the older software version. I'm strongly considering RMAing these fans and just grabbing the NZXT Aer fans, quite fed up that TT havent fixed this issue after almost 2 months!

I tried install and reinstall for like 20 times the software cannot recognize the fans and causes my system to crash. Can I return it and have my money back?
I trusted your brand coz i am using your psu and your case. But your fans are fail. So fail. I even download the mobile software and it also fail. I really don't know what to say. I spend 2 days checking my system and everything and realize it's the fans. The fans and the leds are working but I cannot control the speed and the lighting. Might be a faulty control unit or something.

    Hi Hansen,

Just trying to spread the word, but if you have a Ryzen system that's the reason the software isn't working. Waiting on a hotfix from thermaltake. Alternatively you should be able to get a full refund from thermaltake.

Question has anyone tried bypassing the controller all together? I would think that you could just remove the 7 pin USB route the PWM wires to PWM and RBG to any other RGB controller out there?

I have not. Just waiting on the hotfix from thermaltake.

For anybody that isn't satisfied with their purchase, Thermaltake AU offered me a full refund for the fans as they are incompatible with Ryzen atm. I declined for now as I actually like these fans and am hoping for the fix to come soon. You should be able to receive the same. Call the support centre for you country, screw sending in a ticket!

  11. but the software from TT website cannot run at all for me. i tried removing the case and removing most of the glue. now its really weird for my case.

the software in my PC when i launced it doesn't open. but the software is processing when i open task manager and check.

and when i open teh ring push software on my phone it can detect the hardware and software. but nothing can be control.

and when i end task from my pc the phone cannot detect the software anymore.

but when i turn the software back on again it is running in task manager but the problem is still the same. no window pop up.

so it is only running in the back ground and my phone can detect it.

I dont understand why the software cannot open at all? but my iphone can detect it.

its really hard to put it in words. this is the shittiest fan fullstop.

i dont think sending me a new control can solve my software problem.

or the software is not compatible with Ryzen or my Asus ROG Crosshair vi AM4 motherboard or not compatible with windows 10?

    Hi!

I'm having the same issue as you with the same parts also. Thermaltake AU told me it's a software conflict between riing and ryzen and that they're working on a fix. It had been a month and still nothing..

Have you fixed your issue by any chance?

  12. Forget what i said Thermal-take just updated to a version 1.0.5 which broke my fix now none of it works again.  Is there a way to prevent the software from auto updating? so I can get back halfway working again.

Also for this issue, I think you should just reinstall the software using the original setup you downloaded and cancel any updates! Sorry I cant be of more help, I cant  get the software open at all to even give some advice

Sorry for the delay! Expected emails when you replied and received nothing :/

I have yet to try your solution but feel it wouldn't have worked for me regardless. I cant open the software, when I do it appears in system tray but the only thing that makes it open is if i unplug the controller from the mobo. Replugging it in makes the software hang.

Do you have the plus or premium version?

  14. Hey!

I made an account just to reply to you because I was going through the heartache trying to figure it out also. I contacted thermaltake and they're aware of this issue. It is a software conflict with Ryzen and the Riing software!

I received an update email today letting me knew that their R&D team is working on a fix for this as we speak but still have no ETA. I guess it gives hope that it'll work in the future. But if you dont want to wait, thermaltake here in Australia offered a full refund and I'd assume you could do the same.
