    Project F1 Dream

Well having just finished a mod that I won’t be seeing for a long while (traveling around shows and such). It was time to build another, this one I had been planning for years to do (those that know me would know this as I have been talking about it for quite a while).

I had originally planned back then to do F1 themed rig based around Jenson and Lewis, but with the team mates split up I put it off for a while (and due to illness, but that’s another very long story).

To cut it short I spotted Thermaltake were doing a new run of the level 10 and having been one of only two that I could find that had modded the original Level 10, II thought let us go down the Lewis Hamilton route and contacted Thermaltake and managed to secure Number 44 for the Thermaltake Level 10 Ltd edition, funny thing is all this was done before he became world champion, so him winning it means I could add a few things.

This time I wanted to be a bit bolder with the build, and do something different to last time and so it begins.

First off let me start off with a big thanks to the sponsors that jumped on board.

The power supply will be located on the back of the inner chamber, in between the two reservoirs.  But in order to mount it there, I'll need to fabricate a bracket for it to sit on.  So more galvanized steel was cut..

..and bent into a shelf-like form..

    ..Here's a couple shelfies..

The mounting holes were transferred to the bottom panel from the psu itself.

Using special diamond-carbide cutting wheels, I was able to remove the center of the panel for adequate PSU ventilation.

And the PSU mounted to the shelf.

Using a box, I propped up the PSU and shelf to the desired height so I could mark the holes on the inner chamber.  It will be held in place by some pop rivets once everything is prepped and painted and ready for final assembly.

This vessel will be carrying the potent adrenaline, so it needs to be very strong and impervious to cracking, crazing, scratches, bullets, lasers, sharks, ... and even laser sharks.  And since there is nothing tangible on this earth presently that comes close to this, I had to travel into the future and bring back some transparent unobtanium.  Fortunately, I found that the future Pringles chip containers were made of it and happened to be the exact sized cylinders I needed, and was able to purchase a couple cans from the local Eleventy-Seven (formerly known as 7-11).

Here's the stock container, ready to be upgraded.

The de-agitator was disassembled, and it's feeble exo-coating removed.

A special protective UltraViolet-activated barrier strip was applied to the outside.

To further dissipate all those UltraViolets, this semi-permeable alloy was added over top the barrier strips.

Once, reassembled, the housing's performance is greatly enhanced by these super cool racing stripes..

Both vessels have been upgraded, and ready to be filled with the toxic fluid.

I  tore the rez apart and fininished of with an old world copper and bronze paint job then add some vinyl graphics that I created in Photoshop and printed out on my plotter.

Front and back panels are on. They are from 4.5mm thick black gloss acrylic. More work still needs to be done to them.

Also the front panel there is a little window cut out and below there is room for a fan controller and the vandal switches

Got all the shock absorbers mounted over the weekend!
Working on the top shocks first, I got the corner shock brackets mounted into the corners using the existing pop rivet holes.

For the top shock mounts, I had to cut the ends off of the radiator support bracket to make room in the corners.

    The back two shocks mounted..

    ..and the front two..

All four top shocks mounted to the corners.

After measuring and centering the inner chamber at the correct height, I drilled holes on all four corners to mount the other shock brackets.

Flipping the entire case over, I started working on the bottom shocks.

I removed the inner chamber temporarily so I could have room to work, and proceeded to mount the remaining four shocks in the bottom corners.

While the chamber was out, I drilled holes in the bottom using the same measurements as the top, and re-installed it into the case.

We now have a fully suspended inner chamber!

    Hey Guys,

This will be my last update for this week. Nothing much, really. I spend this day testing and doing bends. And for some reason, some stupid reason, I can't find the other (Left door) door for the top panel. Looks like I will be re-doing the left door for the top panel next weekend  .

I was able to bend both sides of the top panel frame. And now it's time to bend the sides of the door for the top panel.

Next weekend, I will try to start with the side panels after I re-do the other door for the top panel. Thank you again for dropping in and checking out my progress/update! See you on the next one!

    wooohoooooo!

Well, I had a parcel arrive today so I can finally start my build log! YAY!

I will edit this post later with sponsor logos and such, but i just wanted to get the ball rolling!

    So, without further to do!!

This is my box, there are many like it but this one is mine. My box is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life. Without me it is useless, without my box I am useless.

Inside the box was lots of stuff... I mean... Crazy amounts!! so much it wouldn't all fit on my table and it will take me a few days to go through it all!!

First of all, let's have a look at the CPU block. I found 2 old friends up the attic. I will call them Jay and Em (they might resemble 2 EU Tt colleagues, but I assure you they are toys

So i chose the Thermaltake Pacific W2 CPU block.

With help from Jay and Em I was able to get inside

Inside the box there are all fittings for all the common socket types as well as some plastic inserts to allow us to change the colour of the glowing name

Come on Tt dudes, you need to lift that block up for me so i can get a better picture -.-

Cheers lads! As you can see, G1/4 fittings and some mounting gear pre-fitted for our convenience.

    Next up we have these....

20 x 120mm Tt Riing fans with orange LEDs

I have used the white versions of these before and they have been great. As you can see from the spec, they are excellent for radiators.

Inside the box you get everything you need, screws, a cable to reduce the fan speed and noise and also a molex to fan adapter for if you have 20 fans and run out of fan headers

sigh, Jay and Em decided to hide. They are not very clever though.

Oh excellent. Now they have climbed on top!!! They are probably looking for a bar.

I knew it!!! After a long day at work looking at some awesome Tt goodies, they wanted a nice cold beer!

As per usual, Em couldn't handle his beer. Jay is going strong though!!!

Oooops, maybe not, I best go and put these two to bed for the night! I will be back tomorrow!

So despite temps hitting over 32 degrees here in the uk over the last few days I have given myself a deadline for the build and had to work in the heat. So It was time to do a few things, including cut the main outer panels on the level 10 mobo section

Tape down, mask on and lines drawn and ready to cut.

The width is due to keeping the main frame of mobo section hidden (were the bolts go) I had to repeat this process with the L section too.

With the l panel I wanted to keep the lines, but remove the mounting areas for the GPU cover.

Now that’s all done, it is time to spend quite a few hours with the file, before preparing for paint.

I know working with the case I should of normally taken my watch off ect, but due to these pieces being painted there is not much point so even if bits of paint flake off, it does no really matter (hence the use of normal white tape instead of Green or yellow masking tape.

Also had to cut a few small pieces I needed to make a cover plate for the mounting of the radiator and also a strip for the radiator. I have had to change the radiator out for another due to the fact the models dimensions were larger than quoted to original so other rad was smaller.
Also here Is a sneak peak of the PSU cover I have (thanks to Primochill).

So yesterday was pretty productive, first I spent over a few hours rubbing the cut panels down, phew it was hot to so had to jump in the shower twice I got that sweaty.

That’s today's post, watch for some more soon.

every thing is possible, but limited to 4 characters per side of gear indicator...

Back again with a small update, had some issues but finally this turned up for the build, from OnPole.com
It took an eternity for minichamps to get it to market, but OnPole was superb in that they got it to me within 2 days of it hitting there store, let’s take a closer look at it.

Overall the model is really nice and I have to say minichamps have done a fine job of replicating the race car and they should of with the time it took to get to market. For you F1 fans out there, you should check out OnPole’s website for memorabilia.   I do have to say though getting the model, presented another issue, the 240mm radiator I had planned to use to mount the model above is now too small as the car over hangs it, so I still can not cut the part of the case I want due to the fact I have had to order a 280mm radiator. So I am going to have to redo the radiator again oh well.   Ill post some more pictures of the car before mounting and a few bits tomorrow of what else has arrived

Just a small little update with some pics of the keyboard close up.

As you can see from photo, what you cant see from the first ones is the keyboard is covered in flakes all over, here are a few more shots.

I think it looks amazing and the issue I have is that I think I am addicted to flakes, I have to say despite the price of them, they do add something to the paintwork... ill leave you guys with another sneak peek.

Now looking at the mouse a bit closer you may notice the edges are not smooth, this is because they guy that is teaching me redone the mouse after my mess up on it, but he just smacked me in the face by saying you need to learn more first and redone all artwork on palm and button section of the mouse in flakes (red HAM is done in red metalflakes only) enjoy for now
