Dear PC enthusiasts, 
today I want to introduce to you my second Thermaltake Core x9 build. This time I want to do something other than last time. I allready made some changes, so you can still see the concept.

Concept:
The case will be seperated horizontaly. The lower part of the case will be holding two 480mm/60mm radiators. The new cover on each side of the case will hold one of them. Behind the front I will add an HDD/SSD cage, so you can mount them easily. The PSU will get a new position in the upper of the case. Mounted right behind the front, you got a great view on the PSU and the cables. Next to it I will mount the reservoir and go straight to the midplate into the lower section of the case. To get a good view all over the case I will install acrylic plates in the top and both sides.

Project Open Core: Thermaltake P5 Build (Introduction)  
   
 
I have been using my current build for almost 5 years now, and it is time for an upgrade!  Not only are the components getting a bit long in the tooth, but I recently received my Oculus Rift VR Headset, and my system just wasn't ready to help me step into the world of virtual reality.   
 
   
 
For this new build, will be using the Thermaltake Core P5, open air case.  This time around decided to go with hard acrylic tubing, so I did a 3D render in Google SketchUp to get a better idea of how things would be installed, and what kind of bends I will need to do.  
 
   
 
 
 
 
   
 
This is going to be a bit different from by previous builds using the Corsair 800D, as there will not be much "modding" required to the case itself (we will see if that holds true).  I really like the design of the Core P5, and am looking forward to seeing what I can create using it.  
 
   
 
I will be including some custom lighting as well, but still deciding which direction I want to go with the acrylic panels, and lighting source.  Testing both RGB LED light strips and EL Wire at the moment.

I recently purchased a Core P5 case and i will be modding this case heavily, so first job was to make a highly accurate model of the case. So i did and i wanted to share this with everyone who feels like building a core P5 mod.

I have worked a serious amount of hours on this model, so please if you use it and you write about it, please mention me somewhere, that would be highly appreciate.
 
If you are going to use the model for milling on CNC than just check the alignment of holes of the pieces you already installed. I am quite confident i didnt miss something but you never know, i will be using this model anyhow to put it directly onto my CNC router.
 
I will be adding a complete build log as i progress, cause now i can finally start building a real mod, the hard hours of  design are over

Don't get me wrong the case is #### awesome. It's just that riser cable that is a screw up.. not even sure if yall are the oem on that cable or if its something yall bought and sold with the case.

Project Open Core: Hardware - Radiator & Fans

My previous build I had 2 separate radiators, one for each loop.  A 360 for the CPU, MoBo, and RAM, and a 240 for the GPUs in Push/Pull configuration.  I have a few less waterblocks this go around, and will not be running SLI, so I opted for a single Alphacool NexXxoS 480 Radiator.  Look and feel is very nice, and the reviews I was able to find show that it performs really well.

Also picked up an inexpensive “gasket†to go between the rad and fans.



One thing I really like about this rad is that it has 6 inlets + 1 fill / bleed port at the top.  Tons of configuration options with that layout.  They also put a metal gaurd below the screw mounts so you don’t damage the radiator fins by going in too far.  That is something my last set of radiators did not have, and is a nice addition.  

Comes with everything you need to get started, including port plugs and various lengths of fan and mounting screws.



For the fans on this build, going with the Thermaltake Riing 120mm Blue LED Fans (x4).  These ones are specifically made to work with with radiators (static pressure), and the blue LED accent around the fan is a nice touch.  I saw at computex they just released an RGB version, but for now blue is fine.



I did have to do some cable clean up to make this look nicer. Basically cut to length, sleeved and combined 2 pairs of cables to meet back up at the fan controller.  I didn’t want to have 4 separate cables running through the case so combined  them for a cleaner look.  

Verified with ASUS that the fan headers on the MAXIMUS Formula VIII support 1A per header.  Tested these fans and even at peak, none generated more than 160mA.  Combining 4 fans on one header is still well below the max supported current, and will allow for easier fan control.



Although not really a fan controller, the 4 fans meet back up at a Phobya 4Pin PWM to 4x 4Pin Fan Splitter.  They basically act as 1 fan now, and I will use the  ASUS AI Suite Software to control rotation and noise based on temperature curves.



Picture of all 4 installed and spinning up with a nice blue glow. I kind of wish the blue were a bit more towards the green side of the color scale for a lighter blue, as these look a bit more purple.  Will have to play with the RGB setting on rest of the LEDs on the system, and will find something that works for everything.

Anyone use this yet,  pics, vids?  id love to see just how well the the tubing carries the light, how bends affect.  This looks awsome but id love to see how it actually works and looks in a system vs the advertising pics and graphics on the site.....

Project 2501 is turning into a dream machine (see specs below), was wondering if anyone has any experience with audioengine A5+ speakers.  Turning into an Audiophile and looking for the best quality I can get (within reason).  I have a Soundblaster ZxR pushing some Corsair SP2500's right now, but looking to eventually upgrade into something better.
 

Could anyone please tell me how should I install my TT riing 12 RGB fans to my TT core P3 computer case? I saw the screws coming with the Fans in the package, but totally have no idea where should I put them on the computer case and how. It seems that there's no proper screw holes on the computer case I can use for these beautiful fans. Thanks in advance!

The EK Predator has the pump and reservoir attached to the end of the radiator making the total length 415mm.

If someone here owns a View 31 and could take a measurement for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm looking to see if the distance from the end 120m mounting hole to the wall of the case is at least 50mm.

Hey guys. I was asked by thermaltake to do a mod in a case they have had on the market for awhile. The Thermaltake A71 Chaser LCS. They really wanted me to feature the double bay AIO watercooling system that comes with the case. Now me being me I couldn't just do a regular build with the bay res where it normally goes. So doing some custom mods to spruce up the look of the case and AIO. 



Now this isn't your regular AIO like a corsair h100i or something along those lines. This case comes with a fully custom loop with quick disconnects for easy draining. However I am not the biggest fan of quick disconnects. But that is the beauty of this unit. You can fully customize the loop with hard tubing if you like......which I totally intend to do. But I will still be incorporating the whole entire unit because the disconnects are very handy for easy draining and repair if needed. But I will be hiding them as they are not the prettiest things IMO.



Now this isn't the first case that  I would choose if were up to me, but I was pleasantly surprised with the full tower. It is for sure marketed more toward the gamer with its aggressive look (which I like a more subdued look in my cases) than a pretty living room PC. I have been researching a new system build for several weeks.. I was first enamored with the Core P5; but it has so few storage options, that my P5 will have to wait.
 
This will be more of an evolution than a complete build.
 
My Tower 900 is arriving tomorrow.  I have already built a sturdy pedestal/alter for it to live on.  To start with, I plan on simply moving my existing rig into the Tower 900 after a really detailed cleaning with CRC.  The final build will include a complete motherboard/CPU/Memory/GPU upgrade.  I am hoping to use this forum to gather advice from the universe to help me decide how to progress.  This will be my first liquid cooled build; though I have been building and modding PC's since 1988.  This will also be my first showcase PC.  All previous builds were purely utilitarian and recycled parts from the previous build.
 
The Plan:
        Stage 1 - Case Prep and migration of Old Faithful.
                     1. Obtain Tower from shipper who has held it hostage during the holidays only a few miles from me
                     2. Carefully label and dissect Old Faithful.  C drive is a RAID 0, so a perfect reassembly is essential.
                     3. Carefully clean all parts with compressed air, alcohol and CRC Contact Cleaner (seems recommended by the internet enthusiasts for difficult to clean parts and states it is safe for PC boards).
                     4. Perform appropriate rites to the Computer Gods, sacrifice a chicken, 2 slices of pizza; and complete the rites with a shower of mentos and cola.
                     5. Reassemble.
          Stage 2 - Fans and Lights (early in the build BC cheaper and an easier sell to the wife)
                    STAGE IN PLANNING - OPINIONS NEEDED PLEASE
                    1. Install fans: 7 x 140 for the 2 radiators.  I'll use a smaller radiator for the GPU loop when it goes in)
                    2. 2x140 high-pressure fans in the back and 2x140 high-volume in the top
                    3. 1x140 high-pressure fan for displayed HD cage.
                    4. Install colored LED light
                    5. Install UV lights
                    6. Install light/fan controller
           Stage 3 - CPU Loop - (this may shift if a windfall allows me to upgrade the guts)
                    1. Install CPU radiator. I wanted an EKWB. Which is the largest I can accommodate?
                    2. install pump/res combo (I think it will look better)
                    3. I'd like to install flow monitors and temperature.  Suggestions?  something cool to look at?
                    4. Install EKWB water-block.  Hopefully they make one for this old chip.  This will get replaced when the MB/CPU upgrade happens.
                    5. Install flexible hose and fittings.  This will be replaced with hard tube at the CPU/MB upgrade
                    6. What is the proper ritual?  What do I sacrifice, aside from my credit card?
                    7. Fill, leak test and burp.
 
What is currently moving over: I7-3930k, Asus P9X79 Deluxe, MSI NVidia 970, 32GB memory, 2SSD (RAID for C:), 1 Blu-ray (I wish I could move both),  and 6 hard drives.
 
Questions:  I am stuck with Fans and lighting.  So far, I am leaning towards the NZXT Hue+ for fans, and RGB lights.  I cannot get any good suggestions for ambient UV.  I'd like the tubes and such to "glow".  Another concept was to use colored fittings; however, that means, if I ever want to change colors, I need change fittings.
 
So far, the only things that are set in this build is the case.  Please chime in.  I'd like to hear from you all so I don't have to learn by spending a fortune.

Bit of a minor update, my mouse, speakers and another fan splitter came in.





I'm sorta getting somewhere now. The Core X9 however is still rather empty inside and will be empty for a while.
 
Update - Just got my wireless card today.


 
I should also eventually get another 200mm fan (Perhaps a Tt Luna 20) to replace the stock one I accidentally wrecked when testing how much the front panel affects the fans' airflow. I might also be tempted to get some 140mm fans to replace the 120mm ones (Which I might use in other PCs).
 
The SSD I ordered seems to be lost in transit so I requested a refund and decided to buy it later since I got a GT 730 for $57 to tide me over a bit until then.

I Just built this, and I'm building 2 more.   This one scored 12880 on Time Spy.  99% on all Passmark, and Futuremark test.  I have red opaque coolant, for it and of course the acrylic cover.  Just don't want to open the coolant, and remove the protective covering from the acrylic prior to shipping to the buyer.  There are videos on you tube. It's been a while, but I've built a little budget HTPC about a month ago using some parts that were replaced in my first build among others. It'll go down in the basement once we get a new TV down there.

We have bought in total 5 packs of 3 combo fans and have had nothing but problems. This is a short review of the product line titled TT Premium RIING 12 cm software controlled fans. It doesn't mean it won't work for you - but we feel the product-line is a FAILURE, and several posts on this forum indicate the same thing for multiple users.
 
1) two (2) USB controlling boxes had to be replaced. They never indicated being alive (fans only run red  and device manager does not pickup that controller). Quality control?
 
2) one (1) fan had to be replaced as it missed a anti-vibration rubber-foot. Quality control?
 
3) Software freezes up after everything from minutes to hours. This is a big CAUTION for everyone with watercooling. If fans lockup at high RPM - you'll be fine - except fans sound loud. If however, you lockup at 350-400 RPM - then your righ will go overheated. By the time you find out - your loop will be running water at 60 degrees or more!!!
 
4) BSOD - Blue Screen of Death. We have linked this directly to the drivers used in the RIIING fans. When no software is installed - everything works fine. When drivers are installed - BSOD will appear 1-4 times per day. 
 
5) software was and still is not on par with a PREMIUM product. 
- Software is CPU based even though it can collect info on other hardware sensors (GPU). NO possibility to change this.
- Throttling up and down is directly linked to CPU and this creates a very ear-sored experience. There is no delay in throttling up so if CPU hits 60 degrees fans run at 1300 RPM. A few seconds later - CPU hits 30 and fans go down to 350 RPM. This happens continously during load. We have a watercooled loop.
- no setting of RGB in software
- on 4K monitor - numerical values and text is all distorted and overlaps eachother. RPM numericals outside the circle it is supposed to be in.
- Software auto-starts in full mode, which is a flaw - but also good as you may want to minimize the software and ralize it has frozen.
 
There are many small things that are a nuisance, like skins etc, but overall fact is that product is NOT A PREMIUM product. It feels cheap, does not work as promised and has major flaws in both product performance, design and quality. We bought these products for placing in high-end rigs and have had two customers return their items, as well as our own demo-rig not working properly.
 
We understand a PLUS version is out in less than a year. We feel cheated as these are so called PREMIUM products.
We have gone through version 1.00 all the way up to 2.1.0 and it is still flawed. It may work for others, but not for us and our customers. Over the several months of testing, we have found different software versions on different Thermaltake pages, seems the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.
 
We have obviously been in contact with Thermaltake and received replacement parts, but we have now officially written a letter containing the same information for a RMA to reveive a PLUS RIING if they belive this will sort out the problem, or for a refund. BUT - we have not heard anything from thermaltake.
 
We have other Thermaltake Premium products, but we feel this is a very, very poor execution of  a product line.
 
Our rigs have been running:
- I7 6770K 
- ASUS ROG Formula VIII
- 64GB Dominator 3000
. PSU Thermaltake 1250 RGB
- Windows 10 64 bit PRO (tested on both Anniversary and pre-Anniversary build)

Just finished a build in a Thermaltake Core V31 case.
 
I love this case. Best case TT have made in a long time IMHO, though the other Cores are very good too for various reasons.
 
Quick list of hardware components:

6) Triple Corsair SP120 High performance PWM fans for the Alphacool in push exhausting out the top
7) Triple Scythe Gentle Typhoon AP-14 fans in front
8) EK HD 10/12mm acrylic tubing bent with Monsoon 3/8-1/2" Mandrel set
9) 10 Bitspower BP-BSEML black spakle 10/12mm fittings
 
1 Darkside 8" lighting strip installed in the back
 
I named the system Penumbra-V for the lighting gradation that happens from back-to-front, and the "V" for Thermaltake V31 case.
 
Here's a crappy cell phone pic. I'll get better ones soon, but the potlight that was above it burned out and made it darker than it should have been.
 
Feedback/criticisms are welcome, but I thought I'd post here as I used the V31 as the basis for this build. Temperatures are great, and I don't think I could find another compact mid-tower case that could hold all this raddage!

I'm new here and new to custom watercooling builds in general. So it all started back in January 2016 when I fulfilled my dream of building my own gaming pc. I actually started off with an AIO cooling solution back then already but since it was my first build I wanted nothing to complicated to start off. At that point I was bitten by the bug and there was no turning back anymore. The only thing I was doing was research and reading forums about builds and ideas. The first build was red and black themed (yeah typical and lame by now) but I actually loved it. So in that year pretty much all my money went into my rig with upgrading hardware and changing up things aesthetically. I just wasnt fully satisfied until now. So there came christmas and I knew I wanted a new montior but the model I wanted was just too #### expensive.
So I was thinking for weeks until I found a picture of the Core P5 with a custom loop configuration and I knew I needed something like that. Only problem was I absolutely had no idea about watercooling. I did my research for weeks trying to figure out what I need and what looks good. Hardline or soft? PETG or acrylic? What pump? Bending how? But I really wanted to know everything about this and so sucked in every bit of tip or trick on the inet. So there I was ordering all my parts and boy I can tell you I was shocked at first because of the price! Really didnt think it would bust my wallet this bad! But after this build Im so into watercooling or modding in general its unbelievable! But I think I talked enough.. if theres any questions or anything just hit me up! I present my own green beast:
