  1. Hi,

I just bought the Challenger prime keyboard

I've installed the software, everything runs ok (it is very slow to apply changes but I can live with that), but if I configure ANYTHING in the software and apply changes, the left windows key don't work anymore. If I turn the settings to default, it works again, but any changes I make, the problem appears again.

    I'm on win 7 64 SP1

    Thanks,

    Walter

yea, can only be used in normal mode with macros disabled. Don't worry though, they have no intention in fixing it from what I gathered.

  2. We have already escalated all issues from you guys to the vendor and for now you will need to shift to GAME MODE in order for you to set macros and NORMAL MODE acts as a normal keyboard.

You are repeating yourself now. Its not good enough, we wish to see progress on this issue and not that its just being "escalated". We haven't even heard from the developers of someone other than yourself outside this forum that this issue has even been acknowledged!

I continue to wonder, are they ignoring this issue because they have a more expensive and profitable project to work on? While I admit this isn't the worlds most expensive keyboard, I did expect some sort of actual support form a major company other than "its been escalated"!

  3. Hi Matt, if you don't care about our users, issues will not be escalated as promised. As issue will need to escalate to the appropriate team who manage the software and product, therefore, the thing that I can for you guys is to send this issue accordingly to them and make them notice about his matter. This is not a thing where you can change it in one sec, this will affect all the software for this keyboard. Please understand we have many users purchased this keyboard is because of that feature. This issue, as promised, has already been escalated and the team has been notified. They will need time to look into this as this is not the only project on hand for the team. Thanks for your cooperation.

Its been nearly 6 months since this issue was first brought up and not a word from the developers about it. Are they even aware or just don't care because they have more profitable things to work on? You had one job Josh which was to bring it up to the developers. You are our voice to the developers Josh, and we are wanting to be heard!

  4. Non-gaming mode / Normal mode is set to be a normal keyboard with normal keyboard function :)

But if it was set to normal keyboard functions, shouldn't the macro's still work? Its not like they are impacting normal use. They are more of just additional assignable keys, or is it due to limitation of the hardware itself? Are the macro's for some reason being sent via the same (I don't know...) flag as the windows key, so its impossible to have the windows key and macros working at the same time?

  5.  As the current layout is set like this when its first launched to prevent accidentally pressed on the windows key while in-game, therefore, in order to perform macros for games, you will need to shift to game mode.

But why is it set to disable the macros when in the non-gaming, or "default" profile?

  6. I purchased the challenger prime and I just got it today from shipping. Straight out of the box I have just this one problem. If I do ANYTHING involving switching the profiles with M1-M3, or going to the program to change anything, the left windows key won't work. It'll only work after I press reset on the software, just to get it to the factory settings so the windows key can actually work. Is there anything to do to fix this problem, or do I have to send it back? It'll be a shame though, I really would like to have and keep this keyboard.

Yea, its a problem they are ignoring. The windows key will not work when in "gaming" mode, but in order to use the marcos, it has to be in gaming mode. Its stupid and they don't seem like they ever plan to fix it.

Here is a previous thread of everyone complaining about it and Tt Josh doing nothing except "submitting it" to the developers:

    http://community.thermaltake.com/index.php?/topic/1717-challenger-prime-version-30-lacks-default-profile-support/

  7. For current stage, we are unable to have it both enabled. :)

Its been nearly a month since this issue was first pointened out. You have not been entirely straight with the answers and now seem to be ignoring my previous post.

When are you going to fix this?

I mean, I understand why disable the win key in gaming mode (to prevent accidental press), but why even consider disabling the macro keys on normal mode? To prevent people making the most of the keyboard? It just seems so illogical :C

Please fix this. Its just annoying not being able to use the macro keys in non-gaming mode.

  8. Hello! I just bought this Keyboard, and LOVE IT! With one MAJOR EXCEPTION! This exception is enough for me to RMA my keyboard and get another one instead.I REALLY thought this one was the best value, but I was unaware of this problem!

I am having the same issue as everyone else in this post. I NEED to be able to use the Windows Key, and the Macro Keys at the same time. There is no way to set a profile for default NON-Gaming mode, and the NON-GAMING mode, is the ONLY mode that the Windows Key works in. I am an IT Administrator, that does about 50% of my work from home remotely. I got this keyboard mainly because my office is Dark because I get migraines, so I need a backlit keyboard, and Red lighting is good for my migraines.

Thats when I discovered that I can't change the color of the backlighting in Normal Non-Gaming Mode as well. So if I want the red Lighting, I can't have the Windows Key. And If I want the Windows Key, I can't have the red Backlighting or the MacroKeys. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I was glad to read your earlier posts that said that you would be coming out with a software patch to fix this. But you last post which I quoted, made it seem that you are no longer looking for a patch, and are saying that basically that is just the way things are going to be. So please be clear. I like your product, but don't lie or mislead us. Are you going to come out with a simple software patch that fixes this very simple problem, or is this just the way things are going to be?

I have a few days before I am going to start the RMA process. I have already Eye'd Myself a slightly more expensive keyboard from Logitech that Will do Macrokeys, Red Backlighting, and have the Windows Key all at the same time. I would prefer to keep the keyboard I already have. So Please let me know in a timely fashion if this will be possible. I would appreciate a definite answer instead of just leading us on. Sorry if I seem like an A$$, I was just surprised that something so simple as a Windows Key couldn't be used with a custom Profile, and got a little upset when I saw you say that you guys were working on a fix, and then with your most recent post you give the impression that you are no longer looking to fix that option. Thank You for your help regardless. I hope to see this resolved.

    Matt

I am able to freely change my keyboard colours when out of the gaming mode, so I am not sure what is going on there :| However, this really does need to be address. If I knew before hand that the macro keys would not work without disabling the windows keys, I would have not purchased it because its just a pain!

I mean, I understand why disable the win key in gaming mode (to prevent accidental press), but why even consider disabling the macro keys on normal mode? To prevent people making the most of the keyboard? It just seems so illogical :C

  9. Love this keyboard, its so nice to type on and LED's make it great for late night programming. Shame the Macro Keys aren't very useful in a non-gaming profile at the moment (see this thread), however I am sure that can be fixed and I will be able to enjoy it to full potential.

A great purchase of $57AUD in my eyes ;)

Will share a photo once I install the media kit on my computer so I can connect to my phone ;)

  10. Yes, this "disabling of the window key" on the gaming profiles is really annoying.

You are unable to set the macro keys without disabling the window key in the process, which is really annoying for me as I would use the macro keys more often while on my desktop than I would in a game.

I like the idea of having the individual profiles, so maybe you could just add a checkbox on the "Macro Setting" controls that disables the Win key? That way we would be able to assign profiles with macros and choose if we would like to have the win key disabled.
