Bodger22 Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 Hi I want to play movies that are in downloaded in Xvid C3 format. This shows up as s/pdif on VLC player as the audio source. If I use an HDMI cable from the laptop to an AMP it shows as DTS on the AMP. My Amp HDMI out just fried so I cant use it any more. I have an internal Realtek sound card that plays s/pdif fine but ONLY through the HDMI to an amp. It wont play to my speakers/headphones - just normal stereo So will AC3/spdif play through the laptop to the Bahamut as DTS via the usb connection and to my headphone? I only use headphones so don't need a Line out. Thanks for your answers. Quote

dO_ob Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 spdif, usb, hdmi are all interfaces for digital audio So yes it'll play. You'll need to set the output device on VLC to use the Bahamut (ensure you have the relevant codec) may i suggest MPC its a lot better than VLC but it will take a while to set up because you need to install your own codecs, but you'll be thankful as its so much more maintainable. Bodger22 Posted February 5, 2015 Author Report Posted February 5, 2015 Thanks Guys So what you are saying is that when my headphones are connected to the Bahamut I will hear what I would hear if the headphones where connected to my AMP via the HDMI output? I know that my laptop speakers and phone Jack will only play analogue. But if I select the Bahamut as the default audio device then the s/pdif will pass through the USB port and into the headphones directly? Hope that's correct summary! Quote
