Hey Everyone,

First off, a big thank you to Thermaltake for inviting me to the 2024 Thermaltake CaseMOD Season 1! I'm still waiting on a few parts, but I thought I'd share what's already arrived from the incredible sponsors.

Build Components:

  • CPU: Intel Ultra 265k

  • Motherboard: ASRock Phantom Gaming Z890 Lightning WiFi

  • GPU: Palit GeForce RTX 4070Ti Super Gaming Pro

  • Storage: Seagate FireCuda 520N

Huge shoutout to our sponsors: THERMALTAKE, INTEL, ASROCK, PALIT, and SEAGATE for their generous support and these top-tier components!

Check out the photos of the parts I'll be using in this build. I'd love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to comment below!

Hey everyone,

It’s been a while since my last update—life got in the way for a bit, but I’m back and ready to dive into this build! I've taken the entire case down to its frame, even removing the motherboard tray. My goal is to reposition the motherboard more toward the center of the chassis while also creating extra space behind it. As you can guess, this means lots of planning and measuring.

I started mocking up some ideas in cardboard to get a better sense of how much room I really have to work with, and it turns out it's not a lot! Still, it helps to see a rough physical model before committing to anything final. I’ve also been spending time in Fusion 360 and ended up with two separate designs. Now I just need to pick which concept will work best for this build.

Stay tuned—there’s a lot more to come, and I plan to share more detailed progress shots as soon as I settle on the final direction. Thanks for following along and let me know if you have any suggestions or questions!

Just wanted to give a little update, everything is starting to move a little faster, expect a few updates this week.

Here is a little bit of the design, don't what to give too much away,  I am happy where I have everything and it all just fits. time to start making all the test pieces.

I've 3D printed some custom motherboard mounts to rotate the motherboard 90 degrees, aiming to centre it within the case. These mounts will also be secured to the radiators for added stability. During the test fit, I noticed the motherboard sits too far to the left—not entirely sure what went wrong, but that’s why test fitting with scrap material is essential. The vision is starting to take shape, though!

Next, I need to design a bracket for the GPU mount, which should be fairly straightforward. I’ll also need to pick up a 90 degree DisplayPort cable to keep things tidy.

I'm also planning the loop and working out how to mount the fans and pump. I have a rough idea in mind, but there are still a few design details to finalise.

This weekend, I’m hoping to start painting the case, but the UK weather isn’t making it easy wet, windy, and cold conditions aren’t ideal for spraying. I’ll have to see if I can work around it or find an alternative setup.

Another quick update! I’ve decided to hold off on re-cutting the motherboard tray until final assembly. For now, I’ve designed and installed the GPU mounting system inside the case. It’s starting to take shape, though I need to extend the mounts slightly to fully support the GPU.

Next up, I’ll be working on the fans. These will be mounted on the exterior of the case, and I plan to create custom panels to enclose them. I’ll also design a new fan grille that matches the back panel’s aesthetic for a cohesive look.

As for painting the case, I’m still unsure when I’ll be able to do it, the weather has been awful lately. Hopefully, I’ll get a good window soon!

Quick Update!

Unfortunately, the weather here in the UK hasn't been great it's been very wet and cold so I've not yet had a chance to paint everything. Fingers crossed the weather improves this weekend!

On a positive note, I've finished sanding and prepping all the 3D printed parts, including the case itself, ready for priming and painting. I did manage to paint the radiators, though, and I'm really pleased with how they've turned out (see photos below)!

If the weather doesn't cooperate this weekend, I'll spend my time sleeving cables instead. Additionally, I've completed the design for my GPU cover, which you can also see in the photos below.

Thanks for following along! More updates coming soon!

Managed to move forward with the painting phase. I've completed a few parts, but there's still a long way to go and only 10 days left! The amount of sanding required for these 3D-printed parts has been pretty intense, but hopefully, all the effort will pay off in the end. Crunch time now!

More updates soon wish me luck!

The weather has not been great wet and raining, I had to get my tent out to prep some more parts and start the painting of the case, a little behind on where I would like to be but everything is painted, just a case of putting it all together.

I have been able to test fit the mounting of the res, did need to make a small amendment to the res top but just 3d printed another one, quick fill and primer will tidy it up Thursday.

On Thursday I will also be laser cutting the final parts so I can assemble it on Friday.

I know it does not look like much but all the internal attach to the motherboard try and rads, that's why I have a big void.

I will be sharing the assemble on Instagram so if you want to follow along add me @aml_custom_

The Gundam Build is now complete!
It’s been an incredible project from start to finish, packed with challenges, creativity, and a whole lot of passion for the iconic Gundam universe.

A huge thank you to all the amazing sponsors who supported this project:
Thermaltake, Intel, ASRock, Palit, and Seagate – your generosity and backing helped bring this vision to life, and I’m truly grateful.

Best of luck to all the other talented modders – there’s some serious skill and imagination on display this season, and it’s been an honour to be part of it alongside you all.

Thanks again to everyone who followed the build, dropped a comment, or showed support – it’s been a blast!
