Onox
Hi! I am building a new computer, and for that I got a Thermaltake Suppressor F31 case. I would like to get better airflow by replacing the two included fans, and for the front, I bought a Noctua NF-A20 PWN fan, which is 20 cm × 20 cm × 3 cm. To my disappointement, it just won't fit there. There is not enough height inside the removable front plastic cover to install the fan ! Also, I'm not sure about the 3 cm depth, it looks like it would only barely fit. It's kind of possible to put the fan inside the case in the same spot as the 12 cm fan that is provided with the case, but then you won't be able to put it flat against the mounting grid and therefore you won't be able to screw the fan properly (I am only able to use one anti-vibration rubber peg in one corner of the fan). You also cannot put back the disk cage if you do this. In that place, the 3 cm depth is not a problem, but there's not enough width because of the plastic cylinders that hold the front panel to the case. Same problem if you tried to put the fan further up the grid, and I need one of the slots for an optical drive anyhow. I've seen a couple of 20 cm fans that are thinner (2.5 or even 2.0 cm), so if that were the only problem, I could buy another fan. But all of them that I could find are, logically, 20 cm × 20 cm in width and height. So, is the specification of this case wrong ? The manual clearly states that 20 cm fans can be installed in the front.
ThermalMike
Hi, For the F31 and 200mm fans, you have to mount the fan on the inside of the case frame. It does not fit due to the width on the outside of the frame or inside the front panel. Mounting the fan just the same as radiator options is the best way. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Frostensen
Sorry to necro the thread. I've been looking into F31 as a rendering 3gpu rig. Interested in putting that 200mm Noctua fan in there. I was wondering did you manage to do it or was it a failed attempt?
