Ben900 Posted May 15 Report Posted May 15 Has anyone else dealt with these “personal account managers” from online trading companies doing video calls to gain trust first? I’m asking because looking back now, the whole thing feels extremely calculated. I signed up with a forex/cry pto trading platform around January after seeing some inve stment screenshots on YouTube comments. A woman from the company contacted me almost immediately and kept acting very professional. She scheduled Zoom meetings, showed charts, even shared her screen while explaining trades. That’s honestly why I trusted it. Most scams I knew about were random emails or fake texts, but this person actually called me face-to-face multiple times. She remembered details about my job, asked about my finan cial goals, and kept saying she wanted to “build a long-term trading relationship.” After my first deposit, the account balance started growing fast. Every week she pushed me to increase funding because supposedly I qualified for higher-tier trades with bigger returns. Then came the pressure. She called me on video again saying there was a “limited oil market opportunity” and insisted I needed to add another $15,000 quickly before the position closed. The weird part was how emotional the conversation became. She kept saying she was trying to help me personally and that clients who hesitate usually regret it. That’s when alarm bells finally started going off. I searched stuff like “broker account manager asking for more deposits” and “video call inves tment sca m forex platform” and found stories almost identical to mine. Same fake relationship-building. Same urgent funding requests. Same account growth numbers that probably weren’t even real. Once I started questioning withdrawals, communication changed completely. Replies got slower. Calls stopped. Suddenly there were verification issues and compliance reviews. I eventually spoke with Jim Rec overy Team after seeing them mentioned in another broker sca m discussion. They explained that some of these operations intentionally use live calls and video chats because victims naturally trust someone more after seeing a real face. So if your broker’s “account manager” is constantly calling, building emotional trust, and pushing larger deposits after showing fake profits, please be careful. The video calls made it feel legitimate to me too. Quote
