Why there are fins around the tube heat exchanger?

Finned tube heat exchangers are the heat exchangers that transfer the heat more effectively. They perform a better job because they have extended fins attached to their tubed structure that allow the heat to pass faster. This type of heat exchanger can be used for cooling down fluids, gasses, air, or other similar material. They work faster because the fins attached to the external area of the tubes spread the area of the tubes further and thus, the heat passing area increases. This results as quicker heat passage.

There are different types of the fin and tube heat exchanger. Basically, the fins that are attached to the tubes of a heat exchanger vary structurally. One type of fins is longitudinal while the other is transverse. The longitudinal fins are very good for the projects where highly viscous liquids and fluids are supposed to be cooled down. Whereas, fins that belong to transverse type are very effective for cooling down air or gasses. Both types of heat exchangers are efficient and can be used in the industries for different purposes. Moreover, both types are easily available in the markets.
