[Big Water 3.0 Extreme Fan Control Software keeps crashing]

I upgraded to the Thermaltake big water 3.0 extreme cooler in October. Had no issues with the software, upgraded to the latest version which worked fine for a while. Now the software crashes every few hours. I have tried the following:
 

Uninstalling v1.6, cleaning registry and re-installing :- doesn't work, software crashes frequently

Uninstalling v1.6, cleaning registry then re-installing v1.0 :- software still crashes but less frequently and the software does not show the cpu temperature. 

Tried running the software as administrator, windows 7 compatibility mode, windows 8 compatibility mode :- still crashes frequently

 

All the latest windows updates have been installed, motherboard, chipset and other drivers are up to date as well.

Any help to resolve this issue will be greatly appreciated. The cooler is really great but this software issue is extremely frustrating.
