[Riing Trio 12 RGB Controller - USB disconnects/reconnects]

Just purchased the  Riing Trio 12 RGB TT Premium Edition fans and I'm having a problem with the controller constantly disconnecting and reconnecting from the USB bus. It is only happening while I'm in a game and happens multiple times at every sitting. It's very annoying and causes the game to momentarily hang during the disconnect/reconnect activity.  Has anyone else experienced this? What can I do to resolve the issue? TIA
