About Me

I have a friend who just bought a Thermaltake power supply. I have looked at the reviews and they are all good. He is not using it in a case though. He is going to be running it off of his motherboard. The fan speed is set at 12v and the output is around 250 watts. Is this sufficient? If he should decide to use this in a case, should he be able to change the fan speed to 3.0 or something higher? Thanks for any advice. The power supply is fine, unless you need that much power.

The fan speed on the board is controlled by the PWM signal from the motherboard. The board has an onboard fan controller chip, so there are a few different options available to you. The easiest way would be to just buy a PWM fan controller with 12v output. You can find them cheap on ebay or aliexpress. I used the following one when building my PC: You will need to get a driver for your motherboard if you don't already have one. If you are using windows 10, you can download it from the Intel website.
