  1. Hi Folks, When I connect an enclosed 2.5" HDD via my front USB 3 ports the drive connects, disconnects, and reconnects repeatedly. I have a Core V21 and I am using a USB 3.0 20 Pin Internal Header MF Extension Cable Low Profile Connector. (The extension cable is for cable management and because the Core V21 front panel cable is extremely stiff. The cable torqued the header so much I thought it might break off the motherboard.) When I connect the drive to the USB 3 ports on the motherboard the drive connects and stays connected without any trouble. Incidentally, connecting a USB thumb drive or my phone to the front port gives me no problems. I tried a bunch of Windows and bios tweaks for USB power management and legacy support but the only thing that maintains the connectivity is using the USB 3 ports on the motherboard. Could this be due to the overall length of the connection, i.e., the extension cable makes the overall cable length too long for USB 3? I haven't tested the ports without the extension cable because of the difficulty in disconnecting USB 3 headers. And, I don't have a really short USB 3 cable. The overall length (header extension cable -> internal case cable -> USB 3 HDD cable) is probably 2 meters max. Could the extension cable be faulty for USB 3 (my enclosed HDD) but fully functional for USB 2 (thumb drives and phone)? Anyone else have this trouble? Thanks for any advice or solutions!!
