Hi everyone,

I’m excited to share an update on Lucas’s first custom PC build for the Thermaltake UK 2024 Casemod Academy Competition! 🚀

Lucas has just started his journey by taking the Thermaltake CTE E600MX case out of the box and beginning the initial testing phase of all the components. He’s been carefully inspecting each part to ensure everything is in working order before we proceed with the full assembly.

Here are a few highlights from this stage:

  • Unboxing and Inspection: Lucas checked out the Thermaltake CTE E600MX case and familiarised himself with its features and layout.
  • Component Testing: He’s been testing each component individually to confirm they’re functioning properly and ensuring compatibility.

At this stage, Lucas is deeply engaged in the design phase, planning out the layout and visual aspects of the build. It’s been exciting to see his creativity come to life as he designs the custom look for the PC.

A huge thank you to our sponsors for their support: Thermaltake UK, INTEL, ASUS, ZOTAC, NVIDIA GeForce, and SAMSUNG,. Your high-quality components are making this project possible and enjoyable!

We’ve attached some photos from this testing phase. Feel free to have a look and let us know if you have any advice or feedback!

Stay tuned for more updates as we move forward with the build.

Hi everyone,

It’s time for another update on Lucas’s first custom PC build for the Thermaltake UK 2024 Casemod Academy!

Lucas has been deep into the design phase, working on some exciting custom elements for his build. He’s currently designing parts to be 3D printed and is also creating a custom distribution plate that will be a key feature of his watercooling setup. He’s putting a lot of thought into every detail, and we’re excited to see how these custom designs will come together.

Lucas is still keeping the overall design a bit of a mystery—he wants to keep everyone guessing about what the final build will look like!

We’ve attached some photos of the design work in progress. Let us know what you think, and stay tuned for more updates as Lucas continues to bring his vision to life.

Best regards,
Richard & Lucas

Hi everyone,

It’s time for another update on Lucas’s custom PC build for the Thermaltake UK 2024 Casemod Academy!

Things have been a bit busy on my end with work, but Lucas has been steadily pushing forward with his project. He’s been hard at work on his design, focusing on 3D printing various parts and doing a lot of test fits to ensure everything will come together smoothly.

We’ve faced some challenges along the way, including an 18-hour print that ended up failing. But Lucas is taking it in stride, learning from the setbacks, and continuing to refine his approach. The dedication and perseverance he’s showing are really impressive.

I’m attaching some photos of Lucas working on his designs, loading the 3D printer with filament, and even the failed print. It’s all part of the journey!

As always, a big thank you to our sponsors: Thermaltake UK, INTEL, ASUS, ZOTAC, NVIDIA GeForce, and SAMSUNG,. for their continued support.

We appreciate everyone following along and can’t wait to share more progress in the next update.

Best regards,
Richard & Lucas

Hi everyone,

We’re back with another update on Lucas’s custom PC build for the Thermaltake UK 2024 Casemod Academy! After a short vacation, both of us have been busy—me sourcing materials, and Lucas refining his designs. Lucas had to make a few adjustments to ensure the build would survive the shipping to the final event.

Lucas has now printed all the parts he needs and has started the assembly process. He’s been busy cleaning up the parts, gluing everything together, and prepping them for paint. Sanding has begun, and Lucas has been adding body filler to hide the seams. He might have used a bit too much filler, so it’s going to be messy when sanding, but it’s all part of the process! We haven’t applied body filler to the entire part yet; we’re waiting to see how the first layer of primer looks to check if any layer lines are still visible.

We’ve also received some additional parts from Thermaltake to help complete the build, including fittings, extra tubing, and fans.

Lucas has a lot of work ahead, and we’re hoping for good weather—otherwise, he’ll be working outside in the rain! We’ve attached some photos of the latest progress below. We’re trying not to reveal too much of the final design just yet, but the next update might give more of it away!

Thanks for following along, and a big shoutout to our sponsors: Thermaltake UK, Intel, ASUS, ZOTAC, NVIDIA GeForce, and Samsung.

Best regards,
Richard & Lucas

Hi everyone,

Time for another update on Lucas’s custom PC build for the Thermaltake UK 2024 Casemod Academy!

This week, Lucas has been putting in a lot of time after school sanding his build, getting it ready for paint. He’s made great progress and even started priming the parts. While waiting for the primer to dry, we both took some time to figure out how best to ship the build. Originally, we planned to travel down and assemble it at Scan, but due to some changes, we now need to ship the entire case.

We know we haven’t shared too many details, but here’s a sneak peek: the finished build will stand an impressive 6ft tall! After thinking through the logistics, Lucas asked if there was still time to make changes. I told him it would be tight, but I was curious about his ideas. His thoughts were a bit scattered, so I asked him to sketch them out.

Lucas’s theme, which we haven’t shared yet, is a sci-fi console. Staying true to that theme, his redesign focuses on changing the outer shell while keeping the core mod inside the case the same. This approach not only keeps the build cohesive, but it also makes the entire project easier to handle and ship at its new size.

With these changes in mind, Lucas jumped back into Fusion 360, and I helped him rework the design. We’re really excited about the new direction, and the fact that we can reuse a lot of what’s already been made is a bonus!

Stay tuned for more updates, and we can’t wait to show you more progress soon!

Thanks again to our sponsors: Thermaltake UK, Intel, ASUS, ZOTAC, NVIDIA GeForce, and Samsung.

Best regards,
Richard & Lucas

Hi everyone,

Following up from our last post, Lucas has taken his build in a new direction, and we’ve made a fresh start! This past week, we’ve spent a lot of time cutting up the case and removing the rivets to match Lucas’s vision. He’s also designed a brand-new front panel and started painting the case to fit the colour theme.

We even took apart the power supply to get it painted, and it’s all starting to take shape again. We’ve sent the custom distro plate design over to my buddy Alex at Praetex Design since I wasn’t able to do this one in-house due to the side port. It’s a tricky job, but it’s in good hands. Once that’s done and in, we can start assembling the loop!

This weekend, Lucas and I will be working on weathering the case to give it a more dated, worn-in look, as right now it’s a little too clean. Can’t wait to show you the progress!

As always, thanks to our sponsors: Thermaltake UK, Intel, ASUS, ZOTAC, NVIDIA GeForce, and Samsung for their continued support.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Best regards,
Richard & Lucas
