Thermaltake View 51 Reset button not doing anything

I recently built a computer using the Thermaltake View 51 chassis. After many videos and forums I am certain I have everything plugged in correctly.  The reset button works with resetting the PC when plugged into the motherboard.  When plugged into the RGB controller is does nothing which rules out the switch being bad.  I've tried short presses, long presses, and nothing happens.  The fans have power and do run with a solid light (although it is not a strong light).  I am at a loss on this one.  Could the RGB controller be bad from the factory?  How would I test this?  Let me know if I am doing something wrong, I feel like it should not be this difficult.  Thank you in advance,

OK Update time.  I busted out my electrical meters and started checking voltages since they pins on the controller are conveniently labeled.  For some reason the 5V pin to ground was reading 12V and the 12V pin to ground was reading 5V when testing the fan pins.  This could only mean there is some incompatibility between the  fan controller, the sata cable I purchased seperately (because Thermaltake view 51 did not provide any sata power cords) or the thermaltake power supply (highly unlikely the PSU is at fault here).   

My guess is who ever attached the wires of the sata connector to the controller board simply went upside down with the wires and inadvertently switched them.  From top to bottom on the 4 pins on the controller I started out with 5V, G, G, 12V.   After changing the sata cord (since this is the only thing I can change with pins that can come out and go back in -  switched wire #3 and #5) I now have reading from top to bottom 12V, G, G, 5V.  with this configuration I have the correct voltages on the labeled pins going to the fans.   

Going back to the sata wires connected to the control board, the connection covers up the voltage markings.  I can just make out that the bottom wire has a 5 which confirms the wires were attached improperly from the manufacturer.   

The only other possible explanation is the sata cord was wired improperly from it's manufacturer, or the sata cord manufacturer and the controller manufacturer do not have an industry standard set.   

 

Now that I have the voltages corrected I still don't have fan control from the reset button (even if i use a jumper right to the controller).  So Im guessing this means when the 5V side of the controller saw 12V it fried it.  

Awesome.   Guess Ill buy a 9 port RGB controller that is compatible with Aura Sync and try this again.  Maybe they paid attention to the wiring better.

Ok Update #3.  The Thermaltake controller on the view 51 is off the hook.  The cable I bought from new egg was a 6-pin to sata power cord.   I would believe this atleast has an industry standard as shown in the picture.   Mine came wired from top to botton 3.3V, G, 12V, G, 5V.   That 12 volts really likes to fry your 5 volt stuff.   Not sure who the guy was assembling the sata power cable but he was not putting the square peg in the square hole that day.  I should not have to whip out my meters to check voltages when building a pc.  I've got a ticket into new egg about it.  hopefully I get a proper power cable and a stand alone RGB controller out of it.
