Use a portable flashlight to brighten up a backlit keyboard?

I have a Genius Scorpion K20 back-lit keyboard. The upper left corner, from Caps lock to F2, is not lit up very well.

I wonder if I could drill a hole in the back and insert a small bulb from a tiny flashlight which is glued to the back. It would have its own switch. Has anyone tried something similar? TIA for any advice.
