  1. noctua fans and airgoo led strip. airgoo strips are super cheap, and they come with magnetic and sticky backing, the addressable lights work great and you can daisy chan multiples together. if you want fancy lights actually IN your fans, they're not gonna be cheap, or the fans arent gonna be very good.   2. you never will hear back from them, and if you do, it will never be useful info. just mod the controller and buy your next case from someone else.
  3. yeah, i just skipped a reboot. you need to plug everything in, then reboot. but yeah, im just using the board for it's connectors
  4. literally remove everything else from the board. I'm sure there are more elegant solutions, but I am honestly over it. I got more than a little frustrated with the while thing, because argb circuitry is honestly really simple, and i think tt overcomplicated their circuitry. the ic's are great if you dont have a header on your board, but they interfere with the data line if you're trying to do anything with the mobo. you can honestly cut the resistors and ic's off with pliers if you want, the only signals you are worried about are on the edge of the board and only go from one connector to the next in line.
  5. essentially scrap the board and use it as a distribution block, leaving the Din and Dout serialized.
  6. okay, so i gave it another look, and got it working, even though ive moved on and replaced the fans with noctua and added some airgoo led's what i've done now is taken the thermaltake "controller, and removed EVERYTHING from it except the connectors. i took every resistor, capacitor and the 2 IC's off the board. i cut off the sata power connection and rewired the 12v and gnd to a fan plug, i then soldered a jumper from the 5v pin of the mobo argb in header to the 5v pin on "fan 1" and the same with digital in to the dig in on "fan 1" now the fans get fan power, and the leds get argb 5v, dig in goes to dig in on fan 1, and daisy chains from there. works sure tt is never gonna honor the warranty on it, but did anyone still believe that they ever would? also, i did verify that the "I" on the board is not a tach line, its actually ground for the 12v system. so there is no tach, the fans just spin at whatever speed the 12v sends them to. as in + and - instead of 12v and gnd. dunno why they did that, but yeah. also, in case you were wondering, both grounds are tied together on the board within the fans, so i would still recommend replacing those soon anyways. this isnt a perfect soloution, but it works wonderfully. tldr; remove everything from board jumper aRGB: 5v to fan 1: 5v jumper aRGB: Di to fan 1: Di connect 12v and - on "com 1" to a chassis fan header, or leave it if you feel like wasting a sata connection. restart your computer. p.s.: i know i hacked the board mod up, i was getting a little frustrated the other night.

  10. replace the fans with new ones. the fans that thermal take sent out are not PWM fans sorry mate, but that's just the way it is. i recommend the noctua nf-p12 redux 1700 fans. theyre super quiet, good airflow and decent static pressure. about $14 us on amazon.
  11. in this case, I dont think it's necessary, I've got 42 argb leds in a strip my case connected to the rgb_add header, there is no termination resistor in those, and it's working fine.
  12. only, I planned to take it a step further and remove the tt controller board all together, just wire power, tach and ground to standard 3 pin fan connectors.
  13. all looks good. this all aligns with what I've been considering. you just have to run these fans on dc because they arent pwm. I haven't had a chance to hook anything up on the bench though. whoever gets to it first needs to report their results or findings, the tt community will accomplish what tt won't.
  14. I have considered it. I will ne experimenting with the fans and controller I ha e to see if I can get it to work on a test bench. I'll let you know what I come up with. I'm just not real certain what the best solution is.
  15. no, I'm pretty sure the controller that tt sends with these cases is faulty in design. I replaced the fans with noctua pwm fans and put a 42 led argb strip in the case. everything works, proving that my mobo and the armory crate work flawlessly, and that I'm not a complete dunce. the issue is downstream of the 5v argb header, and upstream of the fans, which means it must be the controller....... right? also, I put the fans on the back of the mounts, and noticed a huge increase in airflow. the stock location is too close to the glass for them to draw any air into the blades. received_913576572420624_1.mp4
  16. as an electronics technician, I can confirm that I think that's exactly it. I just didnt have the words after bedtime last night. thank you. there is an auto sensing effect of some sort though, I've seen it detect 1, 21, and 42 LEDs after replacing the fans in my case with some argb strips and noctua fans, but I would still love tt to solve this issue for real. the auto sense function doesnt seem real reliable though, because i have had it read 120 when there were fewer and 1 when there were more leds in the system. you can also set the value manually.
  17. the default/max for the tuf boards is 120. so it just read a very high resistance on the signal line, and assigned the max value to the multiplexer.
  18. now the one fan that DOES sync is strobing really fast on every setting except static, but if i tell aura to set to a solid color, it's fine, but breathe or color shift or anything, and its a panic at the disco if anyone has a solution or suggestion, i'd love to hear it
  19. same problem with the lvl 20mt and tuf x570, also would love to have fan speed control, but w/e anyone know if there is a compatible fan controller that will handle the 6pin fans for speed and argb?
  20. i mean, even if i have to buy an actual fan controller, i'd be okay with that. so long as it is compatible with tt fans and tuf mobo anything..... obviously, i dont want to spend a fortune, but ive already got a few hundred into my rebuild, so.... whats another 50?
